The husband & wife team of Douglas and Sumalee Somerville have become an important part of Fremont’s dinning scene since they opened up Kaosamai Thai Restaurant & Caterers in 2001.

Doug is a trained engineer and former Alaskan Crab fisherman who stays in touch with his old fishing pals and keeps Kaosamai supplied with fresh seafood. Sumalee is the chef who knows just how to take care advantage of this bounty. Her menu is bursting with seafood combinations, not to mention rice, noodle, and curry dishes.

Kaosamai’s catering system is unique to say the least. Doug builds catering trucks that are actually restaurants on wheels! While other caterers cook there food and bring it to you. Doug & Sumalee bring their kitchen to you and cook it hot on the spot! All the food is prepared ahead of time at there restaurant, it’s just that final phase of cooking it is done on location! This service turns weddings, corporate functions, and parties of all kinds, into very memorable experiences.
